Kolkata: Maoists on Tuesday demanded that Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee should oppose operation `Green Hunt` or resign from the UPA government and claimed that they had taken part in the mass movements with her at Singur, Nandigram and Lalgarh.

"We have worked in alliance with the Trinamool Congress to mobilise the masses in Singur, Nandigram and Lalgarh to corner the CPI(M) and even fought together to resist the joint forces and CPI(M`s) `harmads` in Lalgarh," Maoist spokesperson Bikram said in a fax to the media.

But, he said, the ruling party was taking advantage of Banerjee`s `mistakes`.

If the Trinamool Congress did not oppose `Green Hunt` and atrocities on the poor or resign from the UPA government and shun the Congress, then the people will reject her, he said, claiming that she had spoken with top Maoist leaders over telephone in the past.

Maoists will continue to support the Trinamool Congress, he said, adding, "if she is not honest and truthful to the alliance and the people of West Bengal then she will have to pay for it."

He also alleged that Trinamool Congress-run zilla parishads, gram panchayets and panchayat samities in the state were steeped in corruption which Banerjee should check immediately or be rejected by the people.
