Banka: A Maoist was arrested after security forces and a band of rebels exchanged fire at Majhadih in Bihar`s Banka district, police said today.

Acting on a tip off that about 12 heavily-armed Maoists were hiding in a house in the village, a combined force of CRPF and SAP surrounded the ultras and an encounter ensued last night, they said.

One Maoist was arrested, while others managed to escape.
