Manipur ministry to be expanded very soon
Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh would visit Delhi tomorrow to meet the AICC high command to finalise the names of ministers to be sworn in the next expansion, Congress sources said today.
The much-awaited expansion would be effected soon after Singh`s return from Delhi where he would be accompanied by MPCC president and Home Minister Gaikhangam, the sources said.
Governor Gurbachan Jagat who was away from the state for some days is scheduled to return here today.
Ibobi Singh took oath as Chief Minister on March 14 and three cabinet ministers – Gaikhangam, Th. Debendra Singh and T. Phungzathang – were sworn in two days later. Ibobi Singh had said at that time that he would expand his ministry after the three-day assembly session beginning March 19.
Manipur Assembly being a 60-member house, it can have 12 ministers. Congress has 42 MLAs in the assembly.
