A glaring academic crisis has gripped Padampur division in Bargarh district as the Class 10 and 12 board results of more than 1,100 students from six CBSE-affiliated schools in the area remain withheld for more than 10 days now, even after nationwide publication of results.
Sources reported that CBSE announced results on May 13, but students from four government and two private schools in the Padampur subdivision found their scores missing. Upon inquiry, they were informed that their results had been withheld, but no satisfactory reason for the same could be provided by the school authorities.
Protests Escalate into Hunger Strike
On Friday, the delay triggered widespread protests as anxious parents and students staged a dharna outside the Sub-Collector’s office in Padampur, demanding immediate release of the results.
With no response from the authorities, the agitation intensified as nine students began a hunger strike, supported by hundreds of others. Protesters stated to sources that they will not call off the strike until the board releases the pending results.
“We are starting an indefinite hunger strike until the government releases our results. Should the health of any student be affected because of this strike, then the government would be solely responsible for it,” said a protesting student.

Admission Deadlines Add to the Crisis
The uncertainty has left students in distress as online admissions for Class 11 and various undergraduate programmes are already underway.
Without official marksheets or results, students fear losing out on academic opportunities for the upcoming session. Many expressed concern over missing application deadlines and being at a disadvantage compared to their peers across the state.
Response from the Administration:
Meanwhile, Bargarh District Education Officer, Bishwanath Sahu, acknowledged the matter and confirmed that the results of 1,185 students of Padampur are yet to be published. Of these, 608 students are in Class 10 and 577 are awaiting their Class 12 results.
