Deogarh Municipality Chairperson Santi Manjari Dei has been removed from her position amidst allegations of irregularities.
The Housing and Urban Development Department of the Odisha government has taken this decision following a detailed report from the district Collector.
The investigation report outlined several accusations, claiming Santi Manjari had been knowingly violating laws and disregarding guidelines. These grave charges led the State government to issue a notice on November 11 last year, seeking her explanation on the matter.
The state authorities, in their commitment to uphold law and order within municipal administrations, have taken this stringent action to ensure accountability.
By enforcing such measures, the government aims to reinforce ethical governance at the local level, deterring future misconduct and promoting adherence to established regulations, informed sources.
