Karna Lokayukta seeks report on Bhadra project

Bangalore: The Lokayukta Court today asked the police to submit by November 26 its final report on the probe over allegations of financial irregularities by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in the award of Upper Bhadra Irrigation project work to a private firm.

Hearing the case, Judge N K Sudhindra Rao asked the Investigating Officer of Lokayukta police, DSP Girish to submit the final report by November 26 after a status report on the ongoing investigation was filed. On August 10, police had registered an FIR against Yeddyurappa after directives of the court following a complaint filed by JD-S leader Y S V Datta.

In his complaint, Datta had alleged that the second stage of the project was awarded to RNS Jyoti firm, which was the highest bidder after rejecting the lowest bidder. He had alleged that RNS Jyothi had transferred Rs 13 crore to two firms – Dhavalagiri Developers and Sahyadri Healthcare – owned by Yeddyurappa`s sons and son-in-law for awarding the contract.
