Guna: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has said he would contest the next Lok Sabha elections and his son Jayawardan would fight the Assembly polls, if the party gives them a ticket.

At the conclusion of Jayawardan`s second yatra in Dharnavada village near here last evening, Digvijay said there was no way in which he would contest the Assembly elections. However, if his son is given a ticket, he would contest the Assmebly polls next year, Singh said.

At the same time, he also maintained that it was time for politicians of his age to retire and the youth should come forward.

The manner in which corruption had spread all over Madhya Pradesh during the last eight years of BJP rule was unbelievable, he said, adding that the Lokayukta of the state would have to prove impartiality by conducting raids at residences of officials and ministers, instead of only targeting babus and patwaris. He said unlike the BJP which says one thing and does something else, he believes in doing what he says.
