Morena (MP): A CBI team probing the murder of IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh today visited the spot where he was allegedly mowed down by a mining mafia member, a senior police officer said. Morena SP Sanjay Kumar confirmed to PTI that the CBI team, comprising around ten members, visited Banmore police station to take custody of the records pertaining to the investigation into the killing in the presence of himself and district collector D D Agrawal.

The team also visited the spot where the IPS official was killed and examined the tractor-trolley which had mowed down the 30-year-old Singh who was posted as Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) at Banmore. The investigations were formally taken over by the central agency yesterday after Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recommended the probe on the demand of the slain officer`s IAS wife and other family members.

Singh was mowed down allegedly by a mining mafia member Manoj Gurjar when he tried to intercept the tractor-trolley laden with illegally mined stones on March 8. Gurjar was arrested by the police immediately after the incident and is currently lodged in jail under judicial custody.
