Industries welcome green signal to commence KNPP
Coimbatore: Major industrial associations in the district today welcomed the decision by Tamil Nadu government to commence works on the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant. Thanking Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for the `courageous initiative`, Southern India Mills` Association Chairman S Dinakaran said in a statement that textile industry would largely benefit out of the project.
In a separate statement,M Kandhaswamy,President,Coimbatore District Small Industries Association said that the governemnt decision was beneficial to industries, particularly SMEs in the region, who were at loss to find the means for survival due to crippling power shortage. Both Dinakaran and Kandhaswamy appreciated the allocation of Rs 500 crore for developing Koodankulam village and providing various welfare facilities to the fishermen and people living in the region.
