At least eight police personnel, including a Sub-Inspector (SI), Assistant Sub-Inspector and six constables, sustained injuries after they were attacked during their attempt to execute an arrest warrant in Odisha.
The incident was reported from Barkote village in Nuapada district on Friday evening.
As per initial reports, a team of Komna Police had gone to the village to nab one Ashok Sahu against whom a warrant was pending. It is alleged that the police team was attacked by 20 to 25 persons including women of Sahu’s family.
Sub-Inspector Vishnu Prasad Pradhan, Assistant Sub-Inspector Tarun Kumar Sahu and six constables from Komna police station got injured in the attack.
The assailants not only thwarted the arrest but also allegedly vandalized the police van. Following the assault, the injured police personnel officers were rushed to the Komna Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.

No comments could be obtained from senior police officials in connection with the incident.
