Srinagar: The moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference today called for steps to improve ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir saying India and Pakistan need to take forward the dialogue process and involve Kashmiris in finding an everlasting solution to the Kashmir problem.

"In principle, we are not against the dialogue between India and Pakistan as we believe it could help in resolution of long standing Kashmir problem. The need of the hour is to take Kashmiris into confidence to work out the solution," Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq told a Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid here.

Reacting to the recent visit of Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari to India and subsequent statements from both the countries, Mirwaiz said, "We want a comprehensive process rather than media events. There is a need to take solid steps to improve ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir so that a common Kashmiri can feel the change."
