Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated temporary campuses to establish two new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in Bolangir district, allocating Rs 30 crore to each institution and several other educational boosts.
Pradhan inaugurated the two schools and laid foundation stones for their permanent facilities in Titilagarh and Patnagarh. Notably, the initiative is part of a nationwide expansion of 85 new central schools approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2023.
Temporary and Permanent Campus Plans
Until construction gets completed, the Titilagarh KV will operate from an interim location at Blockpada, and the Patnagarh KV will function from the ETEI campus, reported The New Indian Express.
Permanent campuses are slated for Titilagarh’s Railway Colony and Ulba village near Patnagarh. Additionally, these schools aim to provide accessible, quality education to over 5 lakh students in the district, aligning with the National Education Policy’s focus on holistic development.
Additional Investments in Education
Beyond the two Kendriya Vidyalas, Bolangir will see 21 existing schools upgraded to PM Shri Schools with aRs ₹42 crore grant (Rs 2 crore per school).
Rajendra University, a decades-old institution, was also allocated Rs 20 crore under the PM Usha scheme for infrastructure improvements.
Broader Development Initiatives
The projects are part of a Rs 120 crore education package for the district. Further plans include establishing an agricultural university and a biotechnology institute to curb migration by creating local opportunities.
Industrial growth is also prioritised, with BPCL setting up an LPG bottling plant and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approving a new dental college.
