Chandigarh: The Haryana government said on Wednesday that water supply to the national capital Delhi had been restored.

The water supply was earlier interrupted due to damage to the Carrier-Lined Channel (CLC) of Munak canal near village Garhi Bindrauli during the Jat agitation.

"Delhi is currently being provided 700 cusecs of water through Khubru head. Apart from this, water is being supplied from the Yamuna directly to the water treatment plant at Wazirabad in Delhi," an official spokesman said here.

He said that the work to repair the damaged part of the canal was being carried out by the Haryana irrigation department at a fast pace and it would be completed within the next 15 days.

Jat protestors had taken control of the Munak canal and damaged machinery and equipment, cutting off water supply to Delhi last Friday. The supply was partially restored on Monday.
