Following the disastrous tour of Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly planning to come up with strict norms for the Team India players.
If national media reports are to be believed, the BCCI may soon stop allowing wives and girlfriends from travelling with the players. Besides, the cricketers will be made to travel together in bus and not separately during the tours.
Some reports also claim that the personal manager of Team India coach Gautam Gambhir will not be allowed to sit in the VIP box or travel with the Indian players in the bus.
It is also claimed that the BCCI is mulling to set a time-frame for the players to be with their family members during the tour like- 14 days if a series is a 45-day or longer affair, but it can be reduced if the tour is only for a few days.
However, the BCCI is yet to make any official statement in this regard.
Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Australia reclaimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a 3-1 series win over India recently, ending a decade-long wait for victory in the iconic rivalry.
The loss drew sharp criticisms for Team India with some senior players and experts questioning that team’s leadership and adaptability.
Meanwhile, with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the ICC World Test Championship, and the ICC 50-over World Cup being in their possession, the Australian team has once again established itself as a cricketing powerhouse.
