Bangalore: A Lokayukta special court today adjourned to October 26 the disproportionate asset case against H D Balakrishna Gowda, the eldest son of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, after Lokayukta police sought time to file its investigation report. Judge N K Sudhindra Rao rapped the Lokayukta investigating officer for not filing the report and directed him to file the same without fail by October 26.

Gowda is facing charges of possessing Rs 70 crore as disproportionate asset to his known sources of income when he took voluntary retirement from the government service. It is currently valued at Rs 500 crore. The Judge on September 24 had directed Lokayukta police to investigate the complaint and file a report today.

S N Balakrishna, a retired assistant manager of the state run Visveswarayya Iron and Steel in his September 22 complaint, had charged Balakrishna Gowda with possessing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income and prayed for action under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
