New Delhi: Taking a "serious" note of reports suggesting spurt in clandestine activities by Chinese nationals in India, Defence Minister A K Antony on Monday said investigating agencies were looking into the issue to find out the truth.

In recent times, four persons of Chinese nationality have been apprehended from different parts of the country for suspicious activities and agencies are also interrogating the 17th Karmapa over his alleged links to China.

"Agencies concerned are inquiring into the details and government is taking the issue seriously. We are trying to find out the details and the truth," he said.

The minister was responding to queries about alleged spurt in suspicious activities by Chinese nationals in India.

Expressing concern over the fate of Indians stuck in Egypt, Antony said, "The government is concerned about the developments there and the safety of Indians."

He said the External Affairs Ministry (MEA) and the Civil Aviation Ministry are in constant touch and are making all necessary arrangements to bring back the Indians from there.

"Both the ministries are monitoring the situation. They will take whatever action needed for the safety of Indians there," the Minister said.

In protests against the government in Egypt, more than 100 people have lost their lives and several thousand have been left injured in the last six days.
