In a tragic incident, a class V student was injured after a portion of the ceiling at Deogarh Primary School in Ghatagaon under Keonjhar district collapsed on Friday.

The student sustained injuries in the process. He was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is stated to be stable now.

As per reports, the roof of the old school building was repaired under the 5T initiative of the previous government. However, it has been alleged that a portion of the ceiling collapsed due to poor quality work because of the incessant rain for the last few days.

A portion of the roof collapsed when some of the students were playing in the school verandah. A fifth-class student among them sustained injuries to his head due to the falling debris and was immediately attended to.  Luckily, other students had a narrow escape.
