Barasat (WB): An e-collectorate, the first of its kind in India, was today inaugurated here in North 24 Parganas district by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The ecollectorate would bring transparency in administration ensuring open governance, besides it would enable filing of RTI complaints and would be part of a knowledge management system.

The chief minister said that Rs 1332 crore was required for the repair of embankments devastated by the Aila cyclone in the district. Banerjee, who held an administrative meeting, said that it should be ensured that people received 100 days work and hospital services also needed to be improved, she said.

District Magistrate Sanjay Bansal said that coordination commitees were formed under him, the SDO and BDO which would monitor development work in the district.
