New Delhi: The Delhi government on Saturday asked five private hospitals in the national capital why their registration should not be cancelled for allegedly denying admission to a seven-year-old boy who died of dengue.
A show cause notice was issued to these hospitals after the parents of the boy committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of a building.
"Moolchand Khairati Ram Hospital, Aakash Hospital, Saket City Hospital, Max Hospital (Saket) and Irene Hospital (Kalkaji) have been asked to reply in a month as to why their registration should not be cancelled for their refusing emergency medical care to the deceased child," said an official.
Health Minister Satyendra Jain said strict action would be taken in the case.
Police said the couple -- identified as Lakshman Chandra Raut, 35, and Babita Raut, 30 -- jumped from their rented accommodation in Lado Sarai area of south Delhi on Wednesday around 12.15 a.m. They hailed from Odisha.
The couple's only son, Avinash, died of suspected dengue on September 8 after allegedly being denied admission by the private hospitals on the previous day.
