New Delhi: Salman Khurshid, who on Wednesday took charge as the Union Law Minister, said he would take a decision on the issue of the resignation of Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium very soon.

Speaking to reporters after taking charge of the ministry, Khurshid said he has come with an open mind and will take the decision only after discussing the matter with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Reports however said a decision on Subramanium’s resignation could be taken as early as today.

The Solicitor General had resigned on Saturday, as he was upset with the government`s move to appoint senior lawyer Rohington Nariman in the 2G case. The PM had then refused to accept his resignation.

Nariman had on Monday appeared for the government in the Supreme Court during the hearing of the 2G case.

Khurshid meanwhile also said that the Lokpal Bill, the Communal Violence Bill and judges accountability would be his prime focus.
