New Delhi: CBI has taken into custody voluminous documents related to appointment of workforce and consultants from Commonwealth Games Organising Committee headquarters here in connection with its alleged recruitment scam probe.

Official sources said a team of CBI had taken all files and related documents of certain OC officials including their biodata, emolument details and terms and conditions of appointments for detailed scrutiny. "They have asked for specific documents of a number of employees. We have handed over it to them," a senior OC official said. CBI teams had visited yesterday and today he added.

The agency yesterday registered a Preliminary Enquiry to probe alleged irregularities in the appointment of officials in the Games organising body. CBI sources said that the PE was lodged after it received several complaints and references from the Central Vigilance Commission claiming violation of norms in the recruitment process and alleged involvement of sacked OC Chairman Suresh Kalmadi, who is at present in judicial custody, and his close aides in the irregularities.

In its PE, the CBI has alleged that during the period of 2003 to 2009, some persons were inducted into the OC having no expertise with hefty pay packages. CBI has registered 15 cases to look into alleged criminal conspiracy and financial irregularities by various Centre and Delhi Government civic and construction agency officials in carrying out works related to mega sporting event held here between October 3-14 last year.
