New Delhi: Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Friday that the 14th UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP14) was most successful and termed the Delhi Declaration as a powerful document.

There were four takeaways from the COP14, including that countries have finally woken up to the issue of drought and with land restoration, parties will be able to bring carbon back to the soil, which was never meant to be emitted, he said.

Governments would be requested to regulate land and incentivise business on land restoration, Javadekar said.
