Panaji: Even though the state BJP was earlier contemplating a leadership change in Goa ahead of the assembly polls due next year, it is unlikely to happen now.

The party was earlier contemplating to replace the present Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar by former union minister and MP Sripad Naik. The party sources had stated that Naik would contest from Porvorim constituency, the neighouring capital city of Panaji.

However, senior BJP leader L K Advani, while addressing a press conference here today, said that the party does not want to lose Sripad Naik, as the Member of Parliament. "I don`t want to lose him (from the Parliament)," Advani said in response to a query.

"I have come to know certain things. I am sure that the party here will deal with it in an appropriate manner," Advani said while referring to the issue. The state legislative assembly elections in Goa would be held next year as the tenure of current assembly expires in June, 2011.
