New Delhi: CBI has asked Swiss Timing to clarify its stand on alleged irregularities in the award of contract for installing Timing, Scoring and Results system during Commonwealth Games, a case in which sacked OC chairman Suresh Kalamadi has been arrested.

The Switzerland-based company has been asked to file a statement in this regard before a team of officials from the agency officials, who are currently in the European country in connection with a separate probe.

The agency has asked the company to file its statement and reply to the questions raised by the team of officials, official sources said.

The agency has filed an FIR alleging irregularities in the awarding of Rs 141 crore contract to Swiss Timing for the Timing, Scoring and Results system during the Commonwealth Games.

Sacked CWG Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi along with several other officials have been arrested by CBI for allegedly awarding the contract at an inflated rate of Rs 141 crore.

"It is alleged that officials of the CWG Organising Committee had conspired with the representatives of the private firm in Switzerland and contract for TSR was awarded by wrongfully restricting and eliminating competition from other suppliers in a pre-mediated and planned manner," a senior official had earlier said.

The official said the investigation had revealed that the committee for shortlisting prospective bidders was constituted by selecting "hand-picked" officials.

Kalmadi`s close aide and OC`s Secretary General Lalit Bhanot and Director General V K Verma were also arrested in the same case.
