Carefully looking into Indian diplomats case: MEA
New Delhi: Government on Sunday said it is carefully looking into the incident of an Indian diplomat in London being accused of assaulting his wife which it said "involves sensitive and personal issues pertaining to individuals".
"Ministry and High Commission of India are aware of it and are carefully looking into the incident. It involves sensitive and personal issues pertaining to individuals," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vishnu Prakash said here.
He was reacting to the reports of Anil Verma, a senior diplomat in the Indian High Commission in London having been accused of assaulting his wife.
Verma, who is Minister (Economic) in the High Commission, is alleged to have attacked his wife after a heated argument last month, Daily Mail reported today.
The spokesperson, however, refused to speak further on the issue saying,"it is premature to make any further comment at this stage."
