Woman raped, blackmailed by bank manager; five bookedGhaziabad: A local court today directed the police to register a case against a manager of a public sector bank for allegedly raping a local leader of BJP Mahila Morcha and extorting money from her.

The court heard the petition of former president of the Hapur unit of the Morcha, Sunita Sharma, who alleged that she was raped and blackmailed by Bank of India, Hapur, manager Pawan Jain when she approached him for a loan of Rs 5 lakh in 2000.

On 30 May, 2001, Jain called the victim at his place for some work related to her loan for a school building. He allegedly drugged and raped her and also video-graphed the act.

He threatened to distribute the video clip if she approached the police and for many years allegedly blackmailed her with the clip.

He extorted Rs eight lakh from her and also became the president of the school. Jain, his wife and son demanded Rs 15 lakh from the victim when they were dismissed from the school board on June 25, 2011.

Sharma approached the police but they allegedly refused to register her complaint. A case was registered against Jain, his wife, son, daughter-in-law and daughter on the court`s directive.
