Bhanwari case: CBI, Raj Police review progress

Jodhpur: Senior Rajasthan Police officials today discussed the ongoing probe in the Bhanwari missing case with CBI officers here, official sources said. Local police is assisting CBI in the search of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi and Sahi Ram, a small-time politician and one of the key accused in the case.

IG Jodhpur Umesh Mishra, DIG Girraj Meena, SP Jodhpur (Rural) Navjyoti Gogoi held a meeting over the future course of actions with CBI`s Additional Director Salim Ali and other agency officials, they said. The CBI is to file its progress report in the case at the Jodhpur bench of the Rajasthan High Court on November 24.

Meanwhile, former state minister Mahipal Maderna, who is the prime suspect in the case, is reported to be staying at his house after he was discharged on Friday night from MDM hospital. The CBI had twice interrogated Maderna before he was admitted to the hospital after complaining of mild chest pain. Maderna, who was sacked from the Gehlot cabinet on October 16 after his name cropped up in the case, is being accused of having his hand in the alleged abduction of Bhanwari.
