ASI arrested on graft charges

Chandigarh: An Assistant Sub-Inspector was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs three lakh in lieu of exonerating a person in a case filed against him.

ASI Satish Kumar has been arrested for accepting the bribe money from one Shera, a spokesperson of Haryana State Vigilance Bureau said.

An FIR was lodged against Shera under Prevention of Corruption Act on November 30 for cheating in a Railway examination by using WhatsApp messenger.

Meanwhile, Junior Engineer Pawan Kumar, posted at construction department of an university in Rohtak, was arrested on graft charges.

Kumar had accepted the bribe of Rs 10,000 for releasing Rs 2.50 lakh for construction of a cricket and hockey ground in the university, the spokesperson said.

A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, he said.
