Jaunpur (UP): BSP MP Dhananjay Singh, who was arrested in connection with a double murder case, was today remanded in judicial custody by a local court. "Dhananjay was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashraf Ansari who send him to jail in judicial custody and fixed December 23 as the next date of hearing," the prosecution said.

He was arrested from Lucknow yesterday in connection with a double murder in Kerakat area of Jaunpur district in which a contractor Sanjay Nishad and tea vendor Nandlal were shot dead on April 1 last year. The MP from Jaunpur had accused chief minister Mayawati of implicating him in the case.

Dhananjay, whose name figured in connection with chief medical officer murder cases and National Rural Health Mission scam in Uttar Pradesh, was suspended from BSP on September 24 on charges of anti-party activities but his suspension was revoked a few days before the winter session of UP assembly in November.
