Lakhimpur: A supporter of social activist Anna Hazare today filed his nomination as Independent candidate for Lakhimpur Assembly seat, terming politics as a medium through which he would try to curb corruption. Yogesh Kumar, a college lecturer, said that after 65 years of independence he wanted to start a second struggle for a corruption-free country from Lakhimpur soil.

Kumar, who is also a Kabbadi player, was accompanied by over a dozen college students and lecturers when he filed his nomination papers. Addressing his supporters, he said he did not intend to become an MLA but his decision to contest was just a move to express his "anguish against corruption and nepotism of present day politicians". He claimed that his nomination would inspire all those who were frustrated with the present system but hesitated to oppose and remained silent.
