Chitrakonda MLA Mangu Khilla trekked for kilometers, crossed a river on a country boat, and listened to the grievances of the people at Gajiaguda village in the tribal-dominated Malkangiri district. Deprived of all basic amenities, the village has been cut off from the rest of the world.
With no proper road connectivity, the residents here often put their lives at risk by crossing a river to reach the village. The lack of an overbridge over the river often stands obstacle for the tribals here to reach the block for their daily essentials.
The situation turns grim during the rainy season when the river overflows, disrupting normal lives in the village. Even after years of Independence, the villagers still live in the dark age with no basic amenities.
Apart from the overbridge, the village is in dire need of daily needs like a proper drinking water facility, a mobile network, a motorable road, and proper electrification. After listening to all the problems of the people, the lawmaker assured to take up the issues with the district administration and take immediate steps to provide basic amenities in the village.
This was the first time an MLA had visited the village and heard the grievances of the people, other than the political rallies during an election.
