7th Pay Commission Big Update: Finally some good news. The Narendra Modi-led Central government is very likely to come up with a decision on minimum pay hike later this month. No doubt, the government recently hiked the Dearness Allowance (DA) of employees of various departments, but it has been months that the CG employees have been demanding a hike in the minimum pay under the recommendations of the 7th central pay commission.
At present, the Central government employees are getting Rs 18,000 basic pay. Going by the demands of a hike in present fitment (2.57 times) factor to 3.68, they will get Rs 26,000, which is Rs 8000 more than the current basic pay.
If reports are anything to go by, a very crucial meeting of the Union Cabinet is likely to take place later this month, and it is expected that the government will take some major decisions regarding the demands of the CG employees, i.e. hike in minimum pay.
It is supposed that once the proposal of hike gets Cabinet’s nod, an official announcement in this regard will be made by the Finance Ministry.
It is pertinent to mention here that the decision regarding hike in minimum wage was reportedly scheduled to be announced before Diwali, but somehow it was delayed in the wake of the ongoing economic slowdown. However, the Centre had given its employees an increase in their DA before Diwali.
