New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Further hike of Rs 8,000 in minimum pay- a demand that the lakhs of Central government employees have been pushing forward since the day of implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. However, the government is yet to take any major step in this regard.
The present minimum pay is Rs 18,000 but the CG employees are demanding the government to increase it to Rs 26,000.
With the rise of the Sun every morning, the CG employees hope for an announcement but the Sun set crush their hopes again and again.
Will the NDA government increase the minimum pay of the employees? This question is in the mind of all and rumours have been making the rounds since the demand for the hike was placed.
Even though the government is make any announcement in this regard, if media reports are anything to go by, the government may announce something related to the pay hike on August 15.
It is also believed by experts that the implementation of 7th Pay Commission is one of the factors that is driving India's economic growth under the Narendra Modi-led BJP government.
Looking into the demand of the Central government employee without keeping itself at bay will be good for the Modi government as the elections are ensuing. 50 lakhs employees- the number does matter; besides, the employee are making a genuine demand looking into the present market condition, said a retired government employee.
So, for now, the CG employees will have to wait and see if the Centre pay heed to their demand and make an announcement.
