New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The Modi government was expected to announce something related to the minimum pay of the Central government employees ahead or just after the end of Holi. However, the expectations were crushed, yet again.
It is believed that the employees’ can have a stable financial position if the government increases their minimum pay from the present Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000.
The Central government employees have also been demanding to increase the fitment factor by 3.68 times from the existing 2.57 times - an increase of minimum pay by Rs 8,000.
Meanwhile, there has been no confirmation from the part of the government as to whether Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will consider increasing the salary of the employees as per their demand.
Besides, reports are there that the end of the 2018 fiscal will is bring good news for the employees as the government is considering to hike the minimum pay as per the demand of the employees.
“The further hike in 7th Pay is a ‘mirage’. It has already been more than seven months. The issue has been dilly-dallying by the government. But we have to wait till the end of the current financial year to see whether the government listen to our woes or not,” said a government employee adding that the employee associations will decide on its further course of action only after that.
However, if reports are to be believed, the government may increase the pay by Rs 3000 (to Rs 21,000). Besides, the government will reportedly give no arrears to the employees on the further hike, if any in future.
It is worth mentioning that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government had earlier promised to hike the pay only after the Dearness Allowance (DA) crosses 50 per cent with an aim to keep a balance between the salary of the Central government employee and the market price.
Meanwhile, rumours are there that the government may not come up with any pay commission in future and to compensate that it may implement an alternative system where the salaries and allowances of the Central government employees would be increased every year instead of once in a period of 10 years.
