Though the demand for a 3.68 times fitment factor hike by the Central government employees still uncertain as the Modi government doesn't seem taking any step further towards increasing the minimum pay of the 50 lakh employees, there's something to be happy about.
Yes, the CG employees can keep their hope alive as one after another, BJP-ruled State governments are announcing a pay hike for their employees. Centre had also announced a 2 per cent Dearness Allowance hike for the CG employees recently which was in the line with the recommendations of the 7th pay commission.
Now, the Haryana government has announced a Dussehra gift for its employees by announcing two per cent increase in DA for its employees on the revised pay scale effective retrospectively from July 1, 2018.
The never ending wait of the CG employees is likely to be stretched longer taking into account the current economic and political situation in the country. As there are hints of early elections in the country. Besides, the NDA government will also never want to face the wrath of the employees by not paying heed to their demands.

Even after almost a month rupee has not yet recovered from what it plunged against dollar. At present, if the government takes any step to increase the fitment factor then it has to go through a detail study of its financial implications and impact on the economy. Moreover, it can think of rolling out the hike in phase manner to ease the pressure on the government exchequer, said a financial expert.
The Central government employees are presently getting a minimum pay of Rs 18,000. They are demanding a hike of Rs 8000- Rs 26,000- an increase in the fitment factor by 3.68 times from the existing 2.57 times.
