Should Jasprit Bumrah take over captaincy mantle of the Indian team?

Premier speedster Jasprit Bumrah is currently the bowling spearhead of the Indian team. The team banks on his aggressive bowling a lot to win matches. As per many experts, Bumrah is currently the no.1 match winner for India.

Apart from his aggressive pace bowling with lots of variations, Bumrah has also got great leadership skills. He is a very shrewd captain. He led India from the front with his brilliant bowling and man-management skills to win the Perth Test in absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma. 

Though India had a poor batting display in the first innings, Bumrah bowled fiercely to help India make a comeback to the match. Subsequently, the batters joined the party with the bowlers to guide India to a thumping win against formidable Australia.

As per many experts, Bumrah has got all the qualities of being a good captain and he will be a perfect candidate to replace Rohit Sharma, once the current India captain decides to step down. 

According to India’s Test batter turned cricket expert Cheteshwar Pujara, Bumrah is a viable long term captaincy option without any doubt.

“The way Bumrah has showed that in difficult circumstances when we had a tough series at home and when you are playing a first Test match in Australia and to put up a show like that,” said Pujara.

“I think he has the capability of leading the team and he is a team man. You look at him..he never only talks about himself, he talks about the team, the other players. What advice he would give,” he further said.

“There are times when players don’t need advice and he accepts it, he says that.. if there is an experienced player he will keep quite. That is the sign of a good captain. He is very down to earth, very friendly with players in the dressing room and eager to help and he is good person to chat with. Even outside of cricket he has a humble personality,” he added.
