Expectations and disappointments seem to have become a part of the life of the Central government employees who have been demanding a hike in the minimum pay since the day of implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
The CG employees urged the Narendra Modi government to reconsider their basic pay and demanded it to be increased citing that the present minimum pay has failed to put any impact on their financial position.
Though several media reports of a hike were reported at regular intervals, only disappointments have so far come in the way of the CG employees.
The Central government employees are presently getting Rs 18,000 basic pay, but demanding an increase of Rs 8000. If the present fitment (2.57 times) factor is hiked to 3.68 (as per the demand), the employees will get Rs 26,000 as the basic pay.
On the other hand, apart from the DA announced by the Centre for its employees, several States like UP, Bihar and Rajasthan have announced DA and bonus for their employees.
The Rajasthan government announced Diwali bonus for nearly six lakh state employees. The maximum payable bonus for 2018-19 would be Rs 6,774, an official release said.
The Uttar Pradesh government increased DA for state government employees to 17 per cent from 12 per cent.
Similarly, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi announced that the state government would give pre-Diwali and Chhath puja bonanza to its employees by providing them five per cent additional dearness allowance along with the salary for the month of October.
