Cuttack: At a time when the state Crime Branch police are facing criticisms for their 'poor' handling of chit fund scam, State DGP Sanjiv Marik today called upon personnel to enhance professionalism for better crime detection and control with the help of scientific tools.

Inaugurating the 62nd Police Duty Meet here, Marik said this meet is held every year to provide an opportunity to the officers for enhancing their technical qualities, display professional skill and extend the same spirit to their localities for holding district-level meets.

As many as 148 participants, including 28 Inspectors, 233 SIs and 39 ASIs and 39 constables representing 38 police districts of the State are participating in the meet.

Similarly, 25 sniffers are participating in the meet to showcase their skills. The Meet would continue till Saturday, said a release issued by the police headquarters.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is holds the home portfolio, would attend the valedictory function to give away prizes to the winners.

During the three-day meet, competitions in scientific aids for investigation, finger printing techniques, lifting, packaging, forwarding of exhibits, police photography, law procedure, cyber law, medico legal procedures, police portrait, observation, use of computer in police and police detective dogs would be held. Winners of this duty meet would participate in all India meet.
