Fishing boat catches fire in sea in Dhamra, Odisha ; 10 fishermen rescued

Odisha continues to witness frequent elephant mortality. On Thursday, carcasses of two more jumbos were found from Tileimal Patra forest under Bamra Badarama range in Kuchinda area.

Apart from Arindam, the puja committee also paid homage to ODRAF jawan Sitaram Murmu who died in the same elephant rescue operation.

In a tragic incident, at least eight persons died and several others are feared missing in flash floods during immersion of Durga idol in Mal River of Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. The mishap occurred on Wednesday evening when hundreds of people had congregated to witness the immersion of idols.

It is suspected that the pachyderms might have died after consuming pesticide-laced paddy from the nearby fields.
