Devendra Fadnavis' rise in Maharashtra politics has been steady and impressive, from being the youngest corporator and mayor of Nagpur to becoming the first BJP chief minister of the state. Despite a state dominated by Maratha politics, Fadnavis, a Brahmin with deep RSS roots, has carved a distinct political identity. His leadership was pivotal in the BJP’s 2014 success, and though his second tenure as CM in 2019 was short-lived due to political turmoil, he remained resilient. After a brief stint as Leader of the Opposition, he returned as Deputy CM in 2022 following a Shiv Sena rebellion. Fadnavis has earned respect for his governance, especially in infrastructure development, though his tenure also faced challenges, including farmer protests and Maratha reservations. Despite setbacks, including the 2019 debacle, his political acumen and loyalty to his party have kept him in key positions. With the BJP leading in the 2024 assembly elections, Fadnavis is poised for a significant role in the state's future political landscape.
