Voting was held for the 6th Phase of the ongoing general elections. In this phase, polling was conducted for 58 Lok Sabha constituencies across six states and two Union Territories. The states and Union Territories that participated in this Phase 6 of the Lok Sabha elections are Jammu and Kashmir (1 seat), Haryana (all 10 seats), Delhi (all 7 seats), Uttar Pradesh (14 seats), Bihar (8 seats), Jharkhand (4 seats), West Bengal (8 seats) and Odisha (6 seats). As per reports, as many as 889 candidates were in the fray in this phase of polls.

    LS polls: 59.06 per cent voter turnout till 7.45 pm 

    The 6th phase polling underway for 58 Lok Sabha constituencies across six states and two Union Territories recorded a 59.06 per cent voter turnout till 7.45 pm.

    As per the ECI, West Bengal recorded a highest voter turnout at 78.19 per cent till 5 pm, followed by Jharkhand at 62.74 per cent, Odisha at 60.07 per cent, Haryana at 58.37 per cent, National Capital Territory of Delhi at 54.48 per cent, Uttar Pradesh at 54.03 per cent, Bihar at 53.30 per cent and Jammu and Kashmir at 52.28 per cent.

    Polling ends in J&K;, Anantnag-Rajouri LS constituency logs 53 pc turnout

    The polling for the five Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir came to an end on Saturday with the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency recording a 53 per cent voter turnout, officials said. 

    This was the first major election in the union territory after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution in August 2019. Fifty-eight per cent of the 87.26-lakh electorate exercised their franchise. 

    This is said to be the highest voter turnout recorded in Jammu and Kashmir in 40 years.

    The high voter turnout in the Anantnag-Rajouri seat was in sharp contrast to the poll percentage of 9 registered in the 2019 general election.

    LS polls: 57.7 per cent voter turnout till 5 pm 

    The 6th phase polling underway for 58 Lok Sabha constituencies across six states and two Union Territories recorded a 57.7 per cent voter turnout till 5 pm.
    As per the ECI, West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout at 77.99 per cent till 5 pm, followed by Jharkhand at 61.41 per cent, Odisha at 59.60 per cent, Haryana at 55.93 per cent, National Capital Territory of Delhi at 53.73 per cent, Bihar at 52.24 per cent, Uttar Pradesh at 52.02 per cent and Jammu and Kashmir at 51.35 per cent.

    Jharkhand recorded 61.41 per cent voter turnout in four Lok Sabha constituencies till 5 pm. 
    While Giridih registered the highest polling at 64.75 percent, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Ranchi recorded 64.30 per cent, 58.90 per cent and 58.73 per cent respectively.

    Bihar logs over 45 per cent polling in eight LS seats till 3 pm 

    Bihar recorded 45.21 per cent voter turnout in eight Lok Sabha constituencies till 3 pm. Voting is underway in Valmiki Nagar, Paschim Champaran, Purvi Champaran, Sheohar, Siwan, Gopalganj, Maharajganj and Vaishali. The highest and lowest voter turnouts recorded were at Vaishali (48.94 per cent) and Siwan (39.81 per cent), respectively.

    LS polls: 39.13 per cent voter turnout till 1 pm 

    The 6th phase of polling underway for 58 Lok Sabha constituencies across six states and two Union Territories witnessed a 39.13 per cent voter turnout till 1 pm.

    As per the ECI, West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout at 54.80 per cent till 1 pm, followed by Jharkhand at 42.54 per cent, Uttar Pradesh at 37.23 per cent, Bihar and Haryana at 36.48 per cent each, Jammu and Kashmir at 35.22 per cent, Odisha at 35.69 per cent and the National Capital Territory of Delhi at 34.37 per cent. 

    The voting is going on for one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, all 10 seats in Haryana, all seven seats in Delhi, 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, eight seats in Bihar, four seats in Jharkhand, eight seats in West Bengal and six seats in Odisha.

    Nearly 55 pc votes polled in 8 LS seats of West Bengal till 1 pm

     West Bengal registered a voter turnout of 54.80 per cent till 1 pm in the eight Lok Sabha constituencies that went to polls in the sixth phase on Saturday. Bishnupur (SC) recorded the highest polling at 58.64 per cent, followed by Tamluk (57.64 per cent), Ghatal (57.31 per cent), Jhargram (ST) (56.95 per cent), Bankura (54.21 per cent), Kanthi (51.66 per cent), Medinipur (51.57 per cent) and Purulia (50.34 per cent).

    West Bengal: Sporadic incidents of violence reported from some LS seats during polling

    Scattered incidents of violence were reported from some areas in the eight Lok Sabha constituencies of West Bengal, where polling is underway for the sixth phase on Saturday, officials said.

    The Election Commission has received 954 complaints until 11 am from different political parties, alleging EVM malfunctions and agents being stopped from entering booths, they said.

    The poll panel, however, claimed that voting has been peaceful so far.

    Clashes reportedly broke out between supporters of the ruling TMC and BJP in the Ghatal constituency over stopping polling agents from entering the booths.

    BJP candidate Hiran Chatterjee claimed that TMC goons are running havoc and creating hurdles in the voting process.

    Voting begins for penultimate phase of Lok Sabha polls

    Voting began at 7 a.m. on Saturday for the penultimate phase of the Lok Sabha polls with over 11 crore voters in 58 seats across eight states/UTs eligible to seal the fate of the 889 candidates in the fray. 

    Polling is being held in all the 10 seats in Haryana and seven constituencies in Delhi, eight seats in Bihar, four in Jharkhand, six in Odisha, 14 in UP, and eight seats in West Bengal, apart from the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency in Jammu and Kashmir, where the election was deferred from the third phase on May 7.

    Voting for 42 seats of the Odisha Assembly is also being held in the state's third phase of simultaneous polling.
