A brutal terror attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepalese man on April 22, 2025. The terrorists reportedly singled out the victims by asking their religion before opening fire. The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow outfit of the banned Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the attack.
In response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the killing of tourists in Pahalgam, vowing the harshest punishment for those behind the attack. Later, India launched a targeted counter-offensive named Operation Sindoor, striking nine terror hubs located in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Pakistan. The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of over 100 terrorists.
In the aftermath of the operation, Pakistan begged for a ceasefire between the two countries.

Three terrorists were Tuesday killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
Based on a specific input about the presence of terrorists in Shukroo Keller area of the south Kashmir district, security forces launched a cordon and search operation there.
They said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon the forces who retaliated.
In the exchange of fire, three terrorists were killed, they said.

The scheduled conversation between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan will now take place on Monday evening, delayed from the originally planned noon slot for unspecified reasons. The talks come in the aftermath of India's launch of 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7, targeting nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. All Indian military actions since then have been conducted under this operation. The mortal remains of soldier Surendra Kumar, who was martyred in the Pakistani attack on the Udhampur airbase, were consigned to flames with full military honours at his native village in the Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan on Sunday.
