While police initially withheld the suspect’s name in accordance with UK legal procedures, multiple reports later identified the individual as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Following what officials described as a 'comprehensive review' of the allegations, a formal investigation has now been launched.

Witnesses reported seeing unmarked police cars and plain-clothed officers outside Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate on the morning of the arrest, which coincided with Andrew’s 66th birthday. Law enforcement officials said the detention enables them to search electronic devices, documents, and other materials that could be relevant to the case.

No One Above Law

Prime Minister Keir Starmer responded to the development by emphasizing that 'no one is above the law' and encouraged anyone with pertinent information to assist investigators. The arrest comes amid heightened public scrutiny following the publication of extensive documents from the so-called Epstein Files, which allegedly reference Andrew in connection with confidential information related to official trade missions.

Prince Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing concerning his relationship with Epstein. In 2025, King Charles III removed him from his royal roles and titles as controversy surrounding his past associations intensified.
