A car and three bikes reportedly got trapped after a gigantic electronic welcome gate installed by Khannagar Puja Committee for Durga Puja collapsed near Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminal (CNBT) on Friday.
The incident has raised questions about whether necessary safety precautions were taken during installation of the electronic gate.
As per initial reports, nobody was inside the car when the structure collapsed. However, the entire road has been blocked.
A member of the Puja Committee said, “The gate was installed some 15 days back and there was no impact even in case of heavy rain earlier. We suspect that the incident happened after some heavy vehicle collided with it.”

The vehicles were parked in the no-parking zone and that's the reason the vehicles got trapped under the structure, he said.
Prafula Sahu, secretary of the Puja Committee said, “A vehicle was reversing and the structure collapsed after it collided with it. We are clearing the road. The process has started to remove the structure.”
