A Class 2 student of a Sevashram school in Odisha’s Koraput district went missing under mysterious circumstances on Sunday evening. The student hails from Bhitarapada village under Narayanpatna police limits and studies at Balipeta Sevashram school.
Child Missing For Over 14 Hours
According to reports, the student had left the school premises sometime after lunch, during the scheduled afternoon rest period. However, his absence went unnoticed for several hours and was discovered later in the evening, at around 7 pm. Following this, the school authorities, along with local villagers, launched a search operation.
Despite continuous efforts, the child could not be found for an extended period, raising anxiety among the community. The search went on throughout the night. Subsequentl,y the child was eventually located and brought to safety after more than 14 hours of being missing.
Incident Raises Questions On School Supervision
The incident raised serious questions regarding the level of supervision and safety measures in place at the residential school. The delay in detecting the child’s disappearance and initiating a search has drawn criticism from several quarters, particularly in the local community.

No official reaction was issued so far by the school management or by members of the student’s family. The circumstances under which the child left the school premises remain unclear, and the matter has led to growing concern about the safety of minor students in state-run Sevashram schools.
