Malkangiri: Government employees under the banner of Malkangiri district unit of Non-gazetted Officers' Coordination Committee, Odisha, on Sunday staged demonstration here to press for four-point demands including allowance for those working in naxal affected areas.

The slogan shouting employees led by president of the committee Dilip Das later submitted memoranda addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at the district collector's office.

Their demands included opening of at least one more LPG agency in the district which has only one distributor now and consumers are made to wait for five to six months to get one LPG cylinder, 25 per cent allowance to employees working in the naxal affected district, sanction of revised house rent allowance at par with municipality area and immediate repair of staff quarters.

Sub-collector, Nruparaj Sahu, who received the memoranda in the absence of the collector, said that district administration would take up the matter with the government to look into their demands and also do whatever was possible at the district level.
