In a bid to help the denizens of Bhubaneswar relish delicious ‘Odia pithas’ on the occasion of the famous festival, the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has launched 'Pitha on Wheels'
Every year on the occasion of Jyestha Purnima, sibling deities (Lord Balabhadra, Mahaprabhu Jagannath & Devi Subhadra) and Chakradhar Sudarsan, take a ceremonial bath with 108 pitchers of sacred water. After this holy bathing or Snana Yatra rituals, deities are decked up in Gajanana Besha. The Snana Yatra culminates after the Lords are taken to the 'Anasara Ghara' on Pahandi.

After a hiatus of two years due to the upsurge of Covid-19, devotees in large numbers have thronged the holy town to have a glimpse of the deities on ‘Snana Bedi’.
It will be after a gap of two years that Bali Yatra will be organised in the millennium city that draws lakhs of visitors. It is one of the major events which sees business worth crores in a week’s time.
Senapati Lagi ritual is performed by Daitapatis every year a day before Snana Yatra.
The door-opening of Srimandir got delayed on Sunday due to the delay in rituals. Subsequently the number of devotees waiting for the darshan of Trinity at Singha Dwara and Paschima Dwara swelled in front of the Srimandir doors leading to a huge rush.
A programme was held at her statue near the Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar where leaders irrespective of political affiliations congregated to remember her and garland her.
The devotees can have darshan of the deities on the Snana Bedi for almost three hours. However, the devotees will not be allowed to touch the deities.
Pomp and gaiety marked the festival with the participation of hundreds of devotees.
Devotees will not be able to witness the Sital Sasthi Jatra of Lord Lingaraj in Bhubaneswar as the annual festival was cancelled after no consensus has been reached in a meeting held on Saturday.
Lord Kapilanth will be taken to Lingaraj temple today and later the marriage procession will head towards Kedara Gouri temple, sources informed.
The servitors feel the temple administration has an important role to play in solving the disagreement between them and make way for the celebration of Sital Sasthi Jatra of Lord Lingaraj.
