ZNMD sweeps Apsara awards
Besides winning the best director trophy, Zoya walked away with awards for the best film, best screenplay and shared the best story award with Reema Kagti for ZNMD.
Actor Farhan Akhtar got best supporting actor award, while Bosco-Caesar got the best choreography award for `Senorita` from the same film during a glittering function here on Wednesday night.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor and Vidya Balan continued their winning spree in the best actor and actress category for their performance in `Rockstar` and `The Dirty Picture` respectively.
Actress Priyanka Chopra`s cousin Parineeti Chopra took away the best supporting actress award for her performance in `Ladies vs Ricky Bahl`. Praksash Raj got the award for the best actor in a negative role award in `Singham`.
Imtiaz Ali`s `Rockstar` swept the awards in the music category, with the best music director award for A R Rahman, best lyrics award to Irshad Kamil for `Naadaan Parindey`, and best playback singer (male) to Mohit Chauhan for `Saada Haq`.
Shreya Ghoshal got the best female playback singer award for `Teri Meri` (Bodyguard). Rajat Arora got best dialogue award for `The Dirty Picture`.
In the technical award category, Vishal Bharadwaj`s `Saath Khoon Maaf` won awards for best art direction (Subrata Chakraborty and Punita Grover), best costume design (Payal Saluja). The cinematography award was shared by Ranjan Palit (Saath Khoon Maaf) and Chirantam Das (Tanu Weds Manu).
Shahrukh Khan`s magnum opus `Ra.One` won three awards – Resul Pookutty and Amrit Pritam Dutta got best sound design, best special effects (Red Chillies VFX), and best sound mixing (Anup Dev and Tarun Bhandari). Aarti Bajaj got the best editing award for `No One Killed Jessica`.
Filmmakers Farah Khan and Karan Johar hosted the award ceremony and entertained the audience with their wit and humor. Soon to be wed couple – Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D`Souza enacted their love story on stage from their first meeting to the romantic journey that has brought them to this juncture.
Svelte Kareena Kapoor put up a sizzling performance as she danced to some of the most popular South Indian hit songs like `Nakka Mukka`, `Ringa Ringa` and `Kolaveri Di`.
Amisha Patel mesmerised the audiences with a scintillating performance on hit item numbers `Chikni Chameli`, `Ooh La La` and `Madhubala`.
A special segment was dedicated to the legends of Indian cinema and their glorious years in Bollywood. The segment was hosted by Shahrukh Khan as he spoke to the legends.
Shiamak Davar and his troupe paid tributes to iconic stars like Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu, Shashi Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Manoj Kumar, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Vinod Khanna, Zeenat Aman, Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini and others.
The act marked the beginning of centenary year celebrations of Indian cinema.
