Mumbai: After Bollywood actresses Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza ventured into film production, one more actress - Hrishitaa Bhatt, who has joined the list, says this transition does not necessarily come should not be looked at as an attempt to revive their careers.

Having made her acting debut opposite Shahrukh Khan in `Asoka` (2001), Hrishitaa`s career-graph did not go very far. The actress has now turned producer for the upcoming film `Shakal Pe Mat Jaa`.

"It is not necessary that actresses venture into film production, only when they stop getting certain kind of roles or scripts. Also, it is not necessary to act in films that you produce," Hrishitaa told PTI in an interview.

For this actress-turned-producer, getting into film production was always on her mind and was a corollary of acting. "I had always wanted to venture into production. It is a gradual change from modeling to acting to production. Every actor intends to get either into direction or production," she said.

"There was a time, when only actors used to venture into film production. But today, even actresses are doing it. Besides, exploring other aspects of filmmaking, there is a business sense attached to it," she added.

After being a model, Hrishitaa eventually moved to Bollywood to try her luck into acting. Even though her Bollywood debut was alongside superstar Shahrukh Khan, it was Tigmanshu Dhulia`s `Haasil` (2003) that brought major turn into her career. She received acclaim for her role in Ram Gopal Varma`s `Ab Tak Chappan` (2004).

"Whatever roles I did, were different. I never wanted to restrict myself to particular kind of roles or films. I have been choosy and selective about the roles I want to do. I am happy and satisfied with my performance in the industry," Hrishitaa said.

Her maiden production film, `Shakal Pe Mat Jaa`, a comedy, is directed by Shubh Mukherjee. "The film is about four boys, who are detained at the airport. They are caught while filming the landing of an aircraft. They are interrogated and then there are goof-ups, comic elements, etc," she said.

Co-produced by IPIX Movies and Linc Entertainment, the cast includes Shubh, Pratik Katare, Saurabh Shukla, Raghuveer Yadav, Aamna Shariff and others. The film releases on November 18.
