The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Suryakumar Yadav as the captain of the Indian team for the upcoming three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka.

Though star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was the frontrunner to be the captain of the Men in Blue in the shortest format of the game, in an unexpected turn of event, SKY pipped Pandya to lead the team.

In response, fans’ reactions on various social media platforms to the news have been mixed, with many feeling that Pandya deserved the position.

In his reaction to the development, SKY was on cloud nine.

Playing for the country is the most special feeling that I will never be able to describe in words. This new role brings with it, a lot of responsibility, excitement and enthusiasm. All fame reaches God, God is great,” wrote SKY in his post on Instagram along with a photo of him posing with the jersey that the team wore during their victorious 2024 T20 World Cup campaign.
